Case Study: New Barn in Aylesbury in Time for the Lambing Season!

Weatherburn Case Study Image 2

In 2018, Mr Weatherburn got in touch with the team here at Graham Heath Construction for a free quotation for a new barn on their farm in Aylesbury. Once the steel frames and erectors were on site, it took our team a mere 6 days to complete and once our erectors were cleared up and out of the customer’s way, we got in touch with Mr Weatherburn to see how they were getting on with their new 82 x 49 x 14ft barn.

What was your main goal with choosing a new building?

“As a pedigree Blue Texel breeder, I wanted to expand the flock but didn’t have a dedicated building to fit all the ewes and lambs under one roof. Having just survived lambing last year, Beast from the East was the catalyst to upgrading the facilities.”

What concerns did you have with the design/planning process?

“We had no specific requirements other than a footprint we needed to stick to as it was being sited in a field which we still needed to use for grazing, so it was important the barn didn’t dominate”.

How did you find out about Graham Heath Construction?

“We scoured the internet and farming magazines for inspiration and as we are not large-scale, we felt that Graham Heath Construction’s “no job too small” message was one of the deciding factors. The website was informative with good examples of buildings.

“We took a bit of a risk because we usually like to have recommendations. But having spoken with the team about our requirements, we felt confident that they had years of experience with the farming community. They also talked us through some of the technical side of things, as we’ve never built anything on this scale before.”

Were you pleased with the outcome?

“The build process itself was impressive, taking just 6 days to complete with only two guys on site. They worked hard!”

How was your experience using Graham Heath Construction?

“We liked the fact the office staff were fully on board with our timescale as we needed it ready for the lambing season. We felt they appreciated our anxiety about delivering on time. Kelly was an excellent communicator, absolutely on the ball – can’t praise her enough.”

A few words from the team at Graham Heath Construction:

Kelly Newton, one of our Estimators who dealt with this project, said: “With time constraints of lambing in mind, we were conscious to ensure Brian & Lesley’s shed was completed in enough time for them to prepare for lambing season. Thankfully, we could manoeuvre production to get it made quicker and we had erectors ready for a quick erection of the building and I’m very pleased they’re happy. Thank you for the lovely comments, its greatly appreciated!”

No job is ever too big or too small for our team, which is why we were very happy to quote Mr Weatherburn for this barn. We were even happier when they called to place the order! They’ve been a pleasure to work with from day one, and were on the ball  with responding to our emails in order to get the job done quicker.

We appreciate delivering to a customer’s preferred timescale is crucial, and we will always do everything within our power to make it work for the customer – no matter what stress it puts on our team. Our team will always go above and beyond to try and make it work. In some cases, there can be unfortunate delays, but in this case, we were able to deliver to Mr Weatherburn’s timescale.

We’re extremely happy to hear that we have another customer on board who is very pleased with the result of their building, and we hope to deal with them again in the near future!
