GHC sponsor Micky Heath for XR Challenge
Micky Heath, a long-standing member of the GHC team is set to participate in the Ford North West XR Challenge this weekend, with no other but Graham Heath Construction as his proud sponsor!
A self-confessed “car freak”, Micky started racing in 2010 and since then has gone on to win 1st place at numerous races including XR Champion and Champion of Anglesey.
“Graham came to watch me in 2012 at Oulton Park – and I went out and won. He said “I just can’t believe how fast they are. You make it look so easy!””
“The next day Graham rang me up and I told him I was fixing my gearbox, he offered to buy me a new one but I declined and jokingly said “You can sponsor me for my races though if you want.” I only said it in jest but he said “Yes!” and has sponsored me ever since.”
He describes it as a real family event, with his cousin Ralph who is a local farmer helping to build the cars and some of the family and GHC team attending the races to show their support.
“My cousin and myself do all of the mechanical and bodywork stuff ourselves. Everything from building the car to the engine. We’ve just finished building what we call ‘Race Headquarters’ which is a shed we got off Graham. It took us 4 years to do it but its purpose built for race cars and it’s great.”
We wish Micky the best of luck for the weekend – and if you’re attending, don’t forget to cheer for the Graham Heath Construction Fiesta!
