Speaking about the apprenticeship programme, Paul Hanson, General Manager, Graham Heath Construction, said: “We’re extremely proud of the valuable contribution that Alex and Chloe are making to our business.”

“We launched the programme to create an alternative route for talented and ambitious individuals from the local area to build a long and successful career.  As a company, we have ambitions for significant growth and a highly skilled workforce is vital to achieving future success,” continued Paul.

Commenting on the opportunity, Alex said: “Apprenticeships are the future – you can learn a trade whilst gaining the life skills required for the world of work.  I’m also benefitting from the mentorship of senior people in the company, whilst also studying for a nationally recognised qualification.  Another huge positive is not having to worry about student debt – I take home a monthly salary that I’m proud to have worked hard for.  I’m looking forward to acquiring more responsibility as I progress within the company.”

Likewise, Chloe is also experiencing the many benefits of an apprenticeship: “I’m surprised by just how much I’ve learnt during my first few weeks.  Whilst I enjoyed school, I wanted to take a more practical approach to my further education and was very keen to get into the working environment.  I already feel like a valued member of the team,” commented Chloe.
