UPDATE: GHC sponsor Micky Heath for XR Challenge
We’ve interviewed Micky Heath before about his achievements in the Ford XR Challenge and by popular demand we’ve caught up with him (not literally – he’s far too fast for us!) for a chat about his latest races.
Micky, a self-confessed “car freak”, is a long-standing member of the GHC team and has been sponsored by Graham Heath Construction ever since Graham went to watch him compete in 2012. Micky started racing in 2010 and since then has gone on to win 1st place at numerous races including XR Champion and Champion of Anglesey.
So how did he do? We got a rundown of his last three races:
Qualified 3rd on the grid, but knocked off on the 2nd corner back to dead last. Managed in rainy conditions to drive back through the pack to finish a respectable 5th position overall.
Started 5th based on finishing position in race 1. In considerably better conditions, managed to improve 2 places to finish on the podium in position 3.
Started 3rd on the grid and feeling confident going into last race, however 8/9 minutes into the race his engine blew and had to retire.
Overall despite the disappointing end to the weekend Micky was happy that the car was showing good performance and says he is looking forward to getting back out there and doing it all again!
